In one of the more genuinely surprising game reveals we can recall, EA has announced Star Wars Zero Company, a turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars. Taking more than a little bit of inspiration from Firaxis’ seminal XCOM series reboot, “ZCOM” has quickly become one of our most anticipated game releases. However, it won’t arrive on PS5 until sometime in 2026.
Players will take on the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer tasked with leading an unconventional special forces unit (that includes a Jedi, a Clone Trooper, and a Mandalorian bounty hunter) against an all-new galactic threat.
This “gritty and authentic story set during the twilight of the Clone Wars' will follow the tried-and-true XCOM formula: gripping tactical engagements and strategic interludes in which players will build a base of operations and gather information on Zero Company’s enemies (thanks, Eurogamer).
We get just a taste of the action that awaits in the game’s official announcement trailer. We have high expectations for Zero Company; collaboratively developed by Respawn Entertainment (Star Wars Jedi series), and Bit Reactor, a studio founded by veterans of Firaxis (Civilization, XCOM series’), we cant wait to dive into what looks to be a high-quality tactics game, set in that undeniably evocative galaxy far, far away.
